The Wish Collector by Mia Sheridan

#qotd : Where is someplace you have never been that you wish you had? For me it is New Orleans.

This was a story of love and loss. A story of facing the darkness to find the light again. This story was also AMAZING! It was one of those books that hits you right in the heart and delivers a romance that leaves you completely ready to read 10 more books from the characters and book a flight to New Orleans. This was a story that not only had history and mystery woven into its pages, but hope and truth. I don't know about you, but I absolutely love when there are curses and hexes and hidden acts tied to objects and places. The tragedy that is woven into this novel leaves it full of mystery and intrigue that also leaves you pining for the truth. Clara and the man behind the wall. It was like a reimagined Phantom of the opera, except nothing like it and completely 100 times better. Make sense? Exactly. IT WAS THAT GOOD, I CAN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE! A man who has lost all hope and a woman who just can't turn away. I don't have words. But if you want a swoon worthy romance that has twists you absolutely don't see coming, then here you go. This isn't a happy go lucky read, but its a haunting and beautiful romance that leaves you filled with hope and light by the end of the read. Add To Goodreads

Synopsis:

New Orleans, a city of mystery and magic, of secrets and dreams, and a history drenched in both love and the deepest of heartache. When ballet dancer Clara Campbell arrives in New Orleans, lonely and homesick, she is immediately captivated by the story of Windisle Plantation and the tragic tale that is said to have transpired beyond its gate. Legend has it that it is abandoned by all living souls, but to Clara’s great surprise, it is not a ghost she hears through the stone wall surrounding the property, but a flesh and blood man. A scarred stranger with a pain deeper and darker than the churning waters of the Mississippi river that flows beside his self-imposed prison. The ruined man behind the wall hides himself from the world. The last thing he expects is to find a friend in the selfless girl who speaks to him through the cracks in the rock. The girl who keeps returning week after week. The girl who makes him wish for things he has long since given up on. The girl who strikes both fear and hope within his wounded heart. But there can be no future for them, no life beyond Windisle, for no one knows better than him that monsters only live in the dark. The Wish Collector is the story of shame and triumph, of loneliness and love, and the miracle of two hearts connecting despite the strongest of barriers between them.
