Author Interview! Fixed On You by Laurelin Paige

Synopsis:
Stalking and restraining orders are a thing of Alayna Pierce’s past. With her MBA newly in hand, she has her future figured out – move up at the nightclub she works at and marry the manager, David. He’s perfect for her because, although he’s attractive, he doesn’t get her all turned inside out and upside down like some other men have. It’s a safe plan, one that assures she’ll remain in control of her obsessive love disorder. But what Alayna didn’t figure on is Hudson Pierce, the new owner of the nightclub. He’s smart, rich, and gorgeous – the kind of guy Alayna knows to stay away from if she wants to keep her past tendencies in check. Except, Hudson’s fixed his sights on her. He wants her in his bed and makes no secret of his plans to seduce her. Avoiding him becomes impossible after he offers a business proposition Alayna can’t turn down and she’s drawn further into his universe, unable to resist his gravitational pull. Soon Alayna’s charmed by Hudson in every way possible and the control over her old behaviors slip. When she learns Hudson has a dark history of his own, she realizes too late that she’s fallen for the worst man she could possibly get involved with. Or maybe their less than ideal pasts give them an opportunity to heal each other and finally find the love their lives have been missing.Hi, Megan and Megan's readers! *waves* Thank you so much for having me here today.
Where did you begin with the idea for Fixed On You?
I'd written several books that were third person and more fun and lighthearted but after reading several darker romances such as Raine Miller's NAKED and Sylvia Day's BARED TO YOU, I wanted to write something with that mood. I spent a short time living in New York City and wanted to capture the elements I loved about the place in story so that sort of fed its way into FIXED ON YOU. Also, powerful business men in suits really turn me on and I wanted to write that kind of hero. I'm also always intrigued with broken people. Especially broken people who are trying to function in a world of emotionally stable people. Though I'm not as obsessive as Alayna is in my book, I certainly can relate to her. I've been irrational and jealous and crazed and it sucked.
Will there be a second book for us?
There will be a second book! FOUND IN YOU will be out this fall. That will be the conclusion of this series. I have other things in the works for next year (February 2014) that I'm not supposed to talk about. *grins smugly*
Do you have a special place you like to get away to write, or a special ritual to your writing?
I don't have a special place. I like to write in my bedroom a lot because my kids don't bother me there. Sometimes I hit a coffee shop. The only ritual I have is to log how much I write. I'm usually really disciplined about writing 1000-1500 words a day and then stopping. If I do more than I don't have time with my family or other jobs. If I do less, the book never gets done.
Who is your favorite Author?
Do I really have to answer? *whines* For me "favorite" is a category and not a title. In romance, I love Sylvia Day and Tiffany Reisz and Roni Loren. I also love pretty much every author I've read from Entangled (which is pretty much the whole Brazen line). I loved Beautiful Bastard (Christina Lauren) and am eager to read more from them--I haven't had a chance to read Beautiful Stranger yet. I think that's a healthy list so I'll stop.
When did you begin writing? Was is something you have done since you were little? or a more recent endeavor?
I've always been a writer. I started writing songs before I could even write and I never stopped. I've written short stories, poems, essays, but my biggest love was always songwriting. When I got married and had kids, I started to write books for them and that evolved into writing books that were definitely not for them. It's always been in my blood and I can't imagine not writing in some form or another.
So will we be seeing more from you soon?
Oh, I answered this above, didn't I? I do have other stuff coming out. My 2014 sekrit project is a lot different from FIXED ON YOU, but it's still contemporary romance. It's more fun, and I hope people like both styles of my writing.
Thanks again for letting me spout off about FIXED ON YOU and my writing. It's been a real pleasure!
