This novel was absolutely fantastic. I signed dup for the blog purely base on the cover. I know, that is terrible, but it is true. I did. I also don't regret it. This novel blew me away.
When I started this novel I was a little offset. I REALLY didn't like Eli. I had a few choice words I would have liked to say to him. I hurt for Fiona. I really did. Eli eventually earned himself a spot on my good side, but it took some time.
This is one of the things I love about the novel. I like books that make me feel and this book definitely spark emotion right off the bat. Good or bad emotion, it is that kind of feeling that drives you to finish reading the novel. I didn't stand a chance with The Innocent Liar. It has me from that first page.
Fiona is a girl with a life of secrets. She is on the run and has NO resources sans the clothes on her back. No money, no home, nothing. You also know nothing. We are completely in the dark, just as Eli is. The thing is, Fiona can't tell a soul even a detail about herself or why she is hiding. She needs to be a ghost. Unseen. She also needs to survive.
That is what drives her int his novel, survival. She is so immensely strong as a character. I felt for her each and every page we read and found out more and more about her. She is on the run and still doing all that she can to get by.
Now, lets talk about that sexual tension because Holy Heck there sure was a ton of it in this novel. It was palpable. I was on my toes during the first few scenes. This is one of those books that just has you cheering for the characters. When we finally think we might be getting somewhere though, Elizabeth throws some more of that Dark past into the mix and things get even crazier.
I swear I had no idea where this novel was going chapter by chapter. Each time I thought I had an idea, I was wrong. This novel took me a few rounds in the ring before it finally had an end in sight. I couldn't put it down.
I highly recommend this read for fans of suspenseful romance, and romance with strong alpha leads. It was a wild ride that I wont soon forget. Definitely a top read of 2014. GO grab it up!
A woman hiding from her past, a man lost in his own…
Fiona was desperate to find a life in Jackson, Wyoming, but when a job interview that was supposed to be a sure thing turns ugly, she doubts there’s much hope of it. Eli sees through her lies, and regardless of the favor his father has asked of him, he’s just too stubborn to hire a woman who refuses to even give him her real name.
But there is a reason for everything, and he finds out soon enough her deceptions have a purpose too.
Secrets and lies are nothing to build a relationship on, but their attraction to one another is too intense to ignore. They’re simply magnets pulled together in a situation that should be driving them apart, but Eli has his own ghosts to contend with, and his past leaves him incapable of trusting a woman he can never fully know.
How can they move beyond her lies when the truth is what Eli really needs, and when her past threatens to destroy her, can he rise above his own needs to protect her — his innocent liar?
