Favorite Quote: " You. If you want to give me what I need, the answer will always be you."
Ahh! Cora continuously blows me away! This novel is the perfect blend of NA and PNR. I was absolutely riveted reading it. Also, prepare yourself, Cora has some twists in store that leave you gutted. She excels at forcing you to become emotionally invested in her novels.
Kalli has a story to tell and a journey to begin.
With each turn I thought I knew where it was going but I was wrong. Continuously surprised and enveloped in this novel, I couldn't turn away from it.
Wilder was a twist in Kalliope's world. He is everything she wishes she could have, and exactly what she can't. Despite trying to keep her powers separate from her love for him, things still collide. Wilder is an artist, and no matter what Kalli does, she can't help her nature.
Kalli faces a lot of hard decision int his novel. She continuously is forced to battle within herself on what to do. She is such a strong and complex character, that even after an entire novel I feel like we are still just getting to know her.
The same goes for Wilder. He has a past that we only know little things about. As the novel progresses we gleam little bits of information a bout him and his life. The more that is revealed the more we fall in love with him. I am #TeamWilder in this novel. I was rooting for him from the start of the book.
This novel reads like a Movie. I mean that in the best way. The moment you start reading you feel transported into the novel and feel as though you are living it as you read. It plays before you eyes and you can do no more than gasp when it constantly throws twists at you.
The ending of this novel shattered me. I cannot wait for book two, I will definitely be keeping an eye out for it!
Synopsis:
Kalliope lives with one purpose.
To inspire.
As an immortal muse, she doesn’t have any other choice. It’s part of how she was made. Musicians, artists, actors—they use her to advance their art, and she uses them to survive. She moves from one artist to the next, never staying long enough to get attached. But all she wants is a different life— a normal one. She’s spent thousands of years living lie after lie, and now she’s ready for something real.
Sweet, sexy, and steady, Wilder Bell feels more real than anything else in her long existence. And most importantly… he’s not an artist. He doesn’t want her for her ability. But she can’t turn off the way she influences people, not even to save a man she might love. Because in small doses, she can help make something beautiful, but her ability has just as much capacity to destroy as it does to create. The longer she stays, the more obsessed Wilder will become. It’s happened before, and it never turns out well for the mortal.
Her presence may inspire genius.
But it breeds madness, too.
