Synopsis:

Frustrated and wounded, he surrounds himself with women, booze and drugs, until one day, he finds himself in a world of trouble. Kicked out by his brother, he relocates to California for the summer to help his uncle open Rookies, a local sports bar.
In Santa Monica, Jesse meets the one woman who can lead him back on the right path, the beautiful 22 year old, Niki Milani. Only problem, she is not interested. Niki has her own demons to fight. A past that left her emotional abandoned by her own blood, her father. She keeps her heart guarded and finds it difficult to trust a man again. Especially not a bad boy player who is even more messed up than her. However, Jesse never backs down from a challenge. Blinded by a sizzling attraction, he is determined to prove to Niki that there is more to him than what appears on the surface. That he is the one who can heal her heart.
The story of Jesse and Niki is a New Adult Romance that will leave you breathless.
My Review:
This is a Love at First Sight kind of story. But not.
Jesse's life has recently taken some turns, and as a result he is living it a way that's going to get him hurt or killed sooner rather than later. He is reckless and not caring about consequences. His brothers ships him off to Cali to help work in his uncles bar and from that moment on his life changes.
The moment he meets Nikki he knows he must have her. He is taken by her without a second thought and from then on fights to have her. Nikki on the other hand isn't as taken. From the moment she meets him she thinks he is a player, and not the right type of guys for her, even though she is attracted to him.
To complicate their already torrid meeting, Nikki has a boyfriend. A safe, boring, weird boyfriend set up by her father the lawyer. A boyfriend that schedules their meetings and doesn't support her in any way. Nikki has dreams, she wants nothing more than to follow them but living under her fathers thumb hasn't much allowed that. Neither does her boyfriend.
This is a story about fighting for your dreams, and becoming the best person you can be. Nikki needs to follow her heart and not question herself, and Jesse needs to clean his messes up and become the man he wishes he was for Nikki.
I really felt like Jesse did everything right in this book. He definitely screwed up, but what guy doesn't when he is fighting for love? Jesse works hard and changes all the things he believes he must to make Nikki his. Will it be enough? Nikki is finally taking her life into her own hands and she wants Jesse. Despite some of her dumb decisions, she is meant to be his, but will she allow it?
I definitely had my WTHeck moment with Nikki. Some of her decisions and actions were just wrong. She drove me a little crazy to be honest. I felt like someone needed to smack her upside the head. I also felt as though she was far harder on Jesse than she should have been, but really? Who wants a perfect heroine who we love. Sometimes I think its great to have a heroine that drives me crazy. I know it had me turning the pages and grasping for more.
I found this to be a great book. I loved the smaller story lines we were given in the book and I am totally hooked on the main plot that developed toward the end. Trust me, it is worth reading for :) A well written and quick read that leaves you wanting for the next installment of the Nikki and Jesse story.
