AHHHHH!!! This book. I am wrecked. Just wrecked. We all had our hope as to where this book was going when we finished book one, but trust me, you aren't prepared for it.
Even knowing what we know about the past between Cassie and Ethan, this novel is another roller coaster. I thought We had the whole story. I thought that book one filled in all the questions. I was HOPING that this novel would be all the gushy love stuff of our two lovers healing the past. Well, I can tell you that we aren't completely wrong. This novel DOES start our healing, but the rest of it? Way off.
This novel gives us the gritty. The back story that really brought us to where we are. It shows us how broken our characters both were. The hurt that they both endured. Cassie had her heart broken. She had far to much faith in a relationship that wasn't ready to be. Ethan wasn't the man he is now and at that point in their lives he wasn't capable of being who he needed to be for Cassie and him. Sometimes we have to grow up before we can have our happy ending. Sometimes the second chances are the ones we are really meant to succeed at.
If you thought book one was hot though, prepare yourself because this novel is an inferno is emotions and angst filled situations. The tension is taken to a whole new level as Cassie and Ethan try to really get down to the roots and fix what is broken.
This novel was all about growth in the end. Both of these characters really had to grow into themselves before it could work. Ethan most certainly had a lot to change and come to terms with before things could even be a possibility. The flashing back through the book shows you how much he really has had to grow. On the flip side, Cassie has a lot to grow as well. In these years they have been apart, both characters have worked on who they are. We learned a lot about Ethan, but Cassie did just as much. She needed to find herself after being truly broken by Ethan. Even all these years though, she is still exactly as the title states: Broken.
All in all, you don't want to miss this. It is the epic conclusion that we know we have to have. If you read book one, you need to give this novel its due justice and read it. Even better than the first, the banter alone in this novel will ave you hooked. Get lost with Ethan and Cassie again. I most certainly did!
