Broken by Kelly Elliot
Amy's Review:
Let me just take a minute to let my inner super fan scream for a second ... omGOOOOOODI<3KellyElliott
I've had an internal battle over reading this book for a few months. I am SO in love with the Wanted series and was afraid this new book would somehow steal my love away. Well, ever heard that phrase, "the more children you have, the bigger your heart will grow" Yup ... exactly what happened to me!!!!|
Broken is the love story of Whitley Reynolds and Layton Morris. Whitley is a yankee southern girl from NYC. She has lived a life worth dreaming of .. well kinda. Her parents are wonderful, her BFF is a hottie who always has her back and her boyfriend is a total dream boat. Until he beat her ass. My heart broke for Whitley. Over and over and over again, my heart broke for her. My connection with her was instantaneous. After reading the synopsis, I know there would be some domestic violence in the book, but I seriously was not prepared. I cried for her and her story. I felt her pain. Kelly Elliott has a magical way of inviting readers into the story she is painting.
Layton Morris had a horrible upbringing. His mama died, his daddy left him and then his only saving grace, his brother, died. Take one look at the cover of this amazing book and you will see .. Layton is F.I.N.E. Thank you Kelly for making sure us readers knew exactly who was invited to dinner, and Lord thank you for Gary Taylor. (Amen!) Layton stole my heart. He is kind and generous and sensitive. He is strong and dominating and handsome. He is a real man and that is exactly what Whitley needs.
This book has some wild turns, and some seriously hot sex screens. It takes a lot for me to blush and lets just say I am pretty sure I was bright red reading parts of this <3
Reading this book I noticed myself sighing out loud .. it was that kind of book. The kind of book you kinda know what is going to happen but you are still SO excited to read every single word and absorb every single detail. Kelly Elliott has an amazing talent :) She can write anything and I will read it, this story did not disappoint. Her ability to create such in depth character backgrounds with just a few paragraphs is unreal. To make a reader feel like they have known a character forever ... amazing. I love the way all the main and supporting characters mesh together in this story. I love the back and forth dialogues and the POV changes. Kept me wondering and surprised and basically engaged with the story. I fell deeper in love as the pages flowed through my kindle.
Kelly you left me right on the edge of my seat. I am so incredibly excited to see what book 2 has to offer (and fully admit I will be stalking every single teaser you put out there).
