Amy's Review:
5 stars
I am a huge fan of the Off series by Sawyer Bennett! When I received an ARC to review Off Chance, I was super stoked and my wait for the fifth and final installment was over. Reading the Acknowledgments left me so happy ... could there be another book in the Off series?? eekkk, I sure hope so!
I want to start by saying while I loved reading this book, please read the other 4 in this series first. A lot of loose ends are tied up and I would hate for you to miss the stories of all the wonderful characters you will re-meet while reading Off Chance.
Off Chance revolves around Flynn Caldwell. He is a hunky fireman who has gone through some tragedy in his life and is looking to repent the feelings of guilt he is carrying. Flynn is written to be hot, hot, hot and I will fully admit I had to fan myself a few times while reading his story. Flynn is a total hero! He will jump into a burning building even though his chief is yelling for him to get out. What he finds in one of those fires will change his life completely ... and not in the way he though.
Rowan Page is a girl who raised herself in the school of hard knocks. She is a sensitive soul with a hard exterior shell and she isn't willing to give anyone the chance to crack her ... or is she? When she meets Flynn she is struck by his kind nature and his life loving attitude. It is so foreign to her and the way she was raised, she has a hard time believing he is real.
The writing of this story is incredible, just like all the other Off series books. I love the character development that is present and the updates Sawyer gives us about the characters in the earlier books. Ryan and Danny from Off Sides. Nix and Emily from Off Limits. Linc and Ever from Off the Record. Cillian and Renner from Off Course.
I give Off Chance 5 major stars. Thank you Sawyer Bennett for another fabulous addition to the Off series and I am praying hard for a sixth story to come!!
Book Description:
He is seeking absolution.
Flynn Caldwell has a hero complex and it’s one of the reasons he joined the New York City Fire Department. He has spent his entire professional career trying to atone for that one person he failed to save. Because, if he can do that, then perhaps he can be worthy of love again.
She is seeking escape.
Rowan Page’s life is nothing short of a disaster. Always immersed in trouble, she has only herself to depend on. She’s determined to pull herself out of this mess and make something of her life, despite the hard years she has lived on the streets of New York.
Together, they have the chance to become complete.
Flynn and Rowan’s worlds exist miles apart, but when a chance meeting brings them together, neither of them can deny the instant pull that connects them to each other. What starts as a tiny spark eventually flares into a fire so hot, it refuses to be extinguished.
Both are willing to jump feet first into the flames to see where it takes them, despite the risk of being burned.
