Cooper (Corps Security #4) by Harper Sloan

Meg's Review:

After a much anticipated wait, we were lucky enough to get Cooper early! This novel was as good as I thought it was going to be. After finishing Beck I was a little broken. I am the girl who very much cried over Beck's ending. Cooper is the story of Asher. He most definitely needed his own novel. I know some people wanted Maddox next, but I was VERY much ready to see how Asher was going to deal with everything. He was a broken man and it was going to take a lot to put him back together.

"Every time I close my eyes, I see his smile and it kills me to know that I wasn't there to save him when he needed me. For the first time that I can remember, I let him down."

This novel was a really great read. It was a love story that had me hooked. With the aftermath of Beck, this novel was about moving on, finding peace. There were definitely some bumps in the road for these characters, but it was overall a fantastic read. Emmy also has a journey in this book. The aftermath for her was going to be far different for her then it was for everyone else and that was a battle she was forced to face.

"With that one kiss, that one moment in time, it feels as is I've come home."

I have seen that some readers were rating lower because this book wasn't as fast paced or enticing as the others and I have to agree to disagree. I thought that the emotional aspect of this book was an adventure all its own. There is SO much these characters has been through and are still dealing with that you can't help but relate. I really enjoyed the route that this book took. I wasn't sure how Harper would handle it and I was very happy when I dove into it. This book really grabs you and hold your hand through the read. I a very hooked on this series and I can't wait for Locke next. I highly recommend this read. Cooper

Synopsis:

Do you take me seriously? Because I don’t. I use my jokes and easygoing personality to hide the pain I’ve felt since he took his last breath. I’m adrift without my partner in crime, my best friend…my brother. I can taste the vengeance just within my grasp.

Until she barges into my life. Promising me happiness and a peace I’ve been craving for years. She is the sun to my darkness, the happy to my despair.

But she holds secrets. Just like I do. She holds hers close, where I just pray mine don’t rock the walls we’re trying to build.

Now I’m stuck at a crossroads between my desire for revenge and my craving for her and the life we could have together—and I have no idea which road I should travel.

All I know with crystal clear certainty is that the past has the power to destroy it all.
