I don't even have words for this series. I read it straight through and was absolutely hooked from the very start. Sometimes a book just has that magic about it. The power it give you those butterflies and grip you attention from he first page. THIS is one of those series.
Fallen Angel series have become quite popular in the last few years and it is becoming hard to read ones where you don't feel like your heard the story ten times before. I was a little skeptical going into this novel for that reason alone. Don't fret though, because you have never read anything like this. Embrace is a novel all its own. The plot, the characters, the "ideas" behind the history, all of it are unique to this series. I felt like I journeyed into a foreign world and I was full and ready to get lost in it.
Okay, onto the actual book. I have a huge fangirl crush on Violet. The was the epitome of everything I love in a character. She embodied all of the characteristics we associate with a 17 year old girl, yet when the situation deemed so, she was far wiser than that and grew up when she needed to. It wasn't one of those stereotypical situations where the character drives you nuts when they act all the stereotypes of her age and continue the behavior without any growth. This character was relatable and enjoyable. Snarky, Smart and still slightly impulsive, Violet could definitely handle herself. Add in Lincoln and Phoenix and things can't get much better.
Lincoln has been Violets crush since they started trainmen together. He is the person in her life holding all the secrets and she has no idea. The one that is going to knock her world off its axis. When these secrets come to light, she realizes that no matter what feelings they both may have, they can never be together. Her world is changing and she feels at though she has no control.
Then Phoenix pops into the picture. A man who wants nothing more than to protect her, or so we think. From the very start Violet feels this pull toward Phoenix, something she can't explain. Unique circumstances for them closer and from that point on things only get more complicated.
This book was H-O-T. The romantic scenes were swoon worthy and the level of angst in this book knows no bounds. The plot to this novel was non stop as well. It was the type of read that you curl up with and before you know it, it is midnight and you NEED to start book two. Get lost in this love triangle to rival all others and a world that you wont want to leave.
