This series may be the death of me. Before every novel is released I tell myself that THIS TIME I will take my time. THIS TIME I will not devour it in a day. I lied to myself. This book was phenomenal. The second I got started reading, I couldn't stop.
Sarah J. Maas has a special talent in that from the moment you begin reading, you are IN the book. You are living it beside the characters and your heart races right along with theirs. I can't even count the times I held my breath while reading. It was a thrill.
I don't know about you, but everytime I end a book in their series I am broken. I KNEW with the ending of the last book that I wanted more and it was going to feel like forever before I got it. With Aelin and Rowan, I NEEDED more. It wasn't just a want. Their love story is so beautiful and complex that I could re-read these books ten times over and still be in awe over watching it develop.
The war. We all knew it was coming and now it is upon us. With the epitome of true darkness threatening to take her world, it is time to fight. It is time to take back their home.
Each chapter or so, we bounced between a few different storylines. It was done in a way that with each chapter ending you were left REELING with the realization that you would have another 2 potential chapters before you got answers. It was great. I LOVED that each chapter left me even more excited because you KNEW with each passing chapter you were picking back up story lines.
We had Manon, Aelin and Elide. Each of these heroines had their own epic stories in this novel. I am a HUGE fan of Manon and that grew ten fold this novel. TEN FOLD. She is a force to be reckoned with and her time to shine has come.
Then when we finally started getting answers, my heart was ripped from my chest and I was left to suffer until the next novel. Pure pain. I need it. SUCH BRILLIANCE!
