Meg's Review:

This read was FANTASTIC! Stacy was recommended to me by another author friend, and I had to jump on the chance to read her newest release. My goodness, how glad I am I did this. SUCH a fantastic read. It was fast paced from he very first page and I couldn't put it down. I am not always a fan of books that jump right in. Usually i like a lot of build up and back story before we really get down to the nitty gritty. I felt like Staci nailed this aspect while still having her fast paced crazy start. We just right into the story and it is a crazy ride from that point on. The characters in this story are Fabulous. Cory and Van weave a hot and enticing story for you that simply doesn't allow you to NOT fall in love with it. Cory is struggling with er life in ways that I don't even think she sees. She is doing her regular work as a messenger, and her other work with her runners. Throw in the complication of her sister and then Van into this mix and her life quickly becomes quite complicated. I loved when everything kinda of started to get complicated. I know that is terrible for the characters, but I was in the zone reading and seeing the build up begin. This story is expertly written. It flows wonderfully and the character development in such a short time was astounding. By the end of this volume I was hooked on both the story and the characters. I had SO many questions at the end of the book that I will definitely be reading the next one! SO GOOD!

Amy's Review:

Well, Well, Well ... what have we here? This was my first read from Staci Hart. Thank you Brooke for suggesting such an awesome read!
The first few chapters of the book I was so confused about what was happening. I love when a book doesn't connect all the dots right away! Immediately I was swept away ... Cory, I mean what a sexy name! I personally love male names for female characters, so I was all in from page one. And a strong, energetic, hard working, sexy named female .. hells yes.
Cory is a bad a** mamajama. She struggles daily with her internal battles ~ loving her sister, wanting to provide for her, loving to run, the need to run ~ I felt for her. Van (and come on here, another cool a** name), is her opposite. Set in life, knowing what he needs and wants, very driven. I can not wait to learn more about Van in part two of this series.
The writing in this piece is fantastic. I love the way the story lines between all characters are melted together like a candle. I love how modern this story felt to me, I could picture it playing out on the big screen. I felt suspense, love, sheer enjoyment while reading. My only complaint is I wanted more ... but I am confident I will get it all in parts two and three of this series. I can not wait to enjoy the rest of Hardcore!

*** Part 1 of a 3 part serial *** Cory James has never known a life where she wasn’t running. Running from the cops, her home, her past. Running from love. The only time she’s free is when she throws on her hood and takes to the roofs to become a part of New York, to climb to a place in the city where she doesn’t feel alone. Stealing is nothing, lying inevitable, byproducts of survival. A way for Cory to provide for herself and for her younger sister, Jill, give her the life Cory couldn’t have. For five years, Cory set up a long line of teetering dominos, one by one, choice by choice. Meeting Van is the first domino to fall, and once they crash into each other, it’s only a matter of time before her whole world is in danger of falling apart. She can tell herself over and again that she doesn’t care, but it’s a lie. She knows it from the first time she says his name, but she can’t let him in, not when she has a job to do, a job that could rip her life apart at the seams. One that she’ll have to betray Van to finish. He’ll follow however high she can climb, but she can only run for so long before she has to choose.
