Meg's Review:

I received an ARC of this novel for review, as well as a copy I purchased because I ADORE this author. So that alone should tell you how much I enjoyed it. This novel evoked such raw emotion that you are blown away by the fact that you can feel such things for a fictional character.

Favorite Quote: "Yes. I need it. To be free from the darkness. Please, Cam. Be my light."

This novel is a slight spinoff from the ABM series in such a way that it takes place in the same world and has characters we have met before. It is not necessary at all, but I do recommend you read the ABM series to get the Full impact of this world. Cam. Cam didn't have it easy with this novel. He had to fight for everything and anything, as did Jolene. He was a broken man after what Olivia and him went through. Understandably he is also quite closed off. So when a girl shows up throwing his world for a turn, he reacts as we would expect. HOL Jolene. Goodness my heart hurts even thinking about how her story starts. She escaped. She is out of that place that she has been trapped for over a decade and she is free. She tries to find a place to be safe and to find herself and a way to survive, but those things are a battle all in their own. Mix in Jolene having to deal with her past, and things get even worse. Their love in this novel is a love they had to fight to bring into the light. Every small detail was a mountain for them to climb and battle. They have a story that has you crossing your fingers and toes in anticipation of each and every page. Cam and Jolene. This is a love story that doesn't pluck at you heart strings and make you sway with its butterflies and happy-go-lucky plot lines. This is a story that takes you on a dark journey into the world of human trafficking and shows you things you thought were only in movies. The author did her due diligence giving this horrific thing a honest depiction in the novel. It hurts reading it and definitely leaves your hinting about it once the novel is over. I went through the stages in this book. It is a work of brilliance. I will never grow tried os T.K. Leigh's books as long as she keep writing them like this. Each and every one leaves me with a feeling of utter love. I adore her world and her characters. She gives you the romance with the realistic suspense and emotion. Every single one is a Must Read. This is a novel you cannot miss.

Twelve years ago, Jolene’s adoptive mother died. Twelve years ago, a man showed up at Jolene’s door and promised to take care of her. Twelve years ago, Jolene was happy. Then it all changed…
Jolene Bergio has spent the last twelve years of her life asking one question… Why? Why was she left in the custody of a man who would sell her each and every night to the highest bidder? After a few years, she shut off, giving up hope that anyone would ever find her. Until her luck changed one night and she escaped.

Twelve years later, she finally feels something she hasn’t felt in a long time… Free.

Almost.

Scared that her past will find her unexpectedly, she hides away in a rented beach house, trying to distance herself from everyone… Until Dr. Cameron Bowen enters her world and slowly tears down the walls that she has built up over the past twelve years of her captivity. Jolene begins to learn to love again.

And trust again.

But when a man from Jolene’s past emerges, will she be able to keep her identity hidden? When lies are told and hearts are broken, will the truth surface in time to bring Jolene back from the shadows that threaten to expose who she really is?

Heart of Light is a captivating story of love, strength, and survival.
