I didn't think I could fall more in love with this series and its characters, but I did. Scarlett Dawn took the making of a fantastic series and put it into overdrive with this installment.
Favorite Quote: “It’s the beauty that helps us return from the harshness. If it wasn’t there, we would have nothing to live for.”
Ahh! I don't ever know where to start with these characters. I dove into this novel right after I finished the first. I am an instant gratification kind of girl so I am ever so glad that the second novel was already published. You jump right back in where book one left off, and are treated to a book twice the length of the first. SCORE! (That means twice as much Ezra!)
With a book of this length I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it. King Hall filled out nicely at its length, and even though I wanted more, i was content with how much information we got. I didn't know if having a book twice as long was going to feel as if it dragged on. Don't worry, it doesn't. Every page, every chapter of this book keeps your attention. It had just enough of everything in it to keep you going. Perfectly balanced.

This book dives deeper into Lily and Ezra and FINALLY gives you some relief from that palpable sexual tension. I wasn't sure how much longer we could wait, I was ready to scream waiting on these two. Once they crossed that line though, all bets were off. This novel takes you further into the NA aspect of the novel, while still keeping with the PN aspects. The author does an expert job of flawlessly integrating the sex into the story, while still keeping with the feel of the first novel.
This story focuses a lot on Ezra and Lily's story, while starting to really dive into the political war that is being waged. We brushed the surface of it int he first novel. but we are finally getting some answers in this one. The war doesn't progress very much with book two, but we learn a lot about all the players in this world. You are introduced to a lot of elders and spend a lot of time with our prodigies as they learn what it is going to mean for them as leaders with this future coming quickly.
A lot of character avocations take place win this novel. Individually and as groups. There were a lot of big plot twists in King Cave that I didn't see coming. The author has an art to her writing, that ever when you think you see a twist coming, you are still thrown off by what really happens. I was definitely brought to tears at some points. I felt like I was living in this novel, I became that invested in its characters.
Scarlett Dawn grabbed me with book one, and officially solidified my love as a reader with this second novel. With a series you have to make sure each book is better than the last, while perfectly balancing how much information you give the reader. This was that perfect balance. I am on my toes waiting for book three. The twists towards the end of this novel rocked my world and It won't be righted until I get some answers.
A definite Must Read for any PNR fans.
