My Review:
This is a tear jerker so prepare yourself. I did not and I was all crying and stuff and no prepared. Thus, get your glass of wine and curl up with this book. You won’t be getting up. Yep, its one of those books. I really can’t believe the book is as cheap to buy as it is. You are really getting a deal as this book is pure inked Gold. No joke. SO, onto my very valued thoughts on Maddy’s story. Maddy has been through hell. Really I don’t blame her at all for the way she has chosen to live her life. Its safe. Well she thinks it is. She has faced a horrible loss and its something she deals with every decision she makes. She is also an extremely likable character. She’s outgoing, pretty, has a good self image, and is all around sassy. She’s very relatable and I think thats another thing that makes this book so good. You invest in her. Life keeps throwing curve balls at her. In the face curve balls, but she is resilient and she pushes on. Reid. Well I feel in love with Reid from the start. He was an ass at a lot of points, but I still loved him. Him and Maddy are meant to be and That is That. He just needs some help getting on the straight and narrow. He has some major dark shadows in his past and they are coming into the light weather he likes it or not. This book did a full scope on the areas it dealt with. We had Loss, Grief, Love, Growing up, it had it all. We also had a great deal of comedy thrown in. Intentional or not The interactions between Maddy and Reid are down right laugh out loud at some points. Maddy is an equal match for the bullshit meter when she needs to be. The book is also quite exceptionally written. It flowed well and I had no trouble keeping attention with it. Quite the opposite actually I was Sucked in to this story. Engulfed is a word that seems to fit well. I c an’t wait to start book two. I am giddy as I write this thinking about getting to open that book up and see where it goes.Synopsis:
What would happen if you lost everything? If the people who were supposed to love you unconditionally were no longer there for you, how would your world change? That’s exactly what happened to Madeleine Becker when her parents died when she was ten years old. Ripped from her home and everything that she has ever loved, she is forced to start all over again. The only way for her to move on is to build walls around her heart and keep everyone at a safe distance. Her logic: she can't get hurt if she doesn't fall in love. That theory is blown to pieces when she meets Reid Connely during her freshman year at college. He is gorgeous and darkly mysterious. He understands Maddy's pain all too well, but sharing his pain would mean breaking down the walls he put up around his own heart. Conflicted between loving Maddy and hiding his dark past, Reid starts to reevaluate his world. Maddy's inner strength, snarky personality and breath taking beauty help Reid to make peace with his past.Meet the Author:
I’ve always been an avid reader. Majoring inEnglish Literature was a no brainer. Becoming a teacher and instilling my love for reading into my students was also a no brainer. I’ve spent the last ten years teaching and I’ve loved (mostly) every minute of it. When I was home on maternity leave for my third son, I discovered a new genre that sparked my creativity. My passion for writing sprang from my love of reading and once I knew I had a story to tell, I couldn’t wait to get it out there. I only hope that my readers enjoy reading my story as much as I enjoyed writing it.Giveaway:
