Music of the Heart by Katie Ashley
5 Stars
Meg's Review:
So, I kinda have a thing for rock star books. I LOVE music almost as much as I Love books. So they always hold my attention a little extra. This book did not let down. Mind blown. It was a great fast read and I enjoyed every single detail of it. There wasn't a single chapter that let down. The music in it and the writing were off the charts good. Katie Ashley transports you into the story. You get to know ALL of the characters, not just the focus ones. Her development through the story is also done extremely well. She is so immensely descriptive that its not difficult at all to transport yourself into the scenes. I LOVE when an author does this. I think it takes the book to a new level. Ok Now that I have gushed, I'll tell you a little about the book.
Abby and Jake do not meet under normal circumstances. This isn't your meet at a concert type of book. The book hooked me from the first page. Abby is on her way to her brothers tour bus to begin touring with them for the summer until she takes her brothers spot in their band. She accidentally ends up on the wrong bus when she goes to meet them and is given a very wake up call to who she finds herself with. The lead singer of Runaway Train, Jake Slater. (YUM) he is rock star to the T. Their meeting is entertaining to say the least. Abby is quite the spitfire and gives as good as she gets. She doesn't let down at all.
Jake never expected to find love. He definitely didn't expect to find Abby. In a rush decision he bets Abby that she wouldn't last a week on the bus with him and the band. Bad More. Or as is turns out, Perfect Move. Life is throwing some life changers at Jake and he is going to need the support of everyone he cares about to make is through. Abby included.
Katie Ashley is ahmazing. no other way to put it. This book has the love and the journey, but it also has the heartache and the challenges for the characters. They go through a lot and they do it together. Its very well developed and an overall great read. I couldn't get enough of the characters. This book will definitely remain a favorite and you will see it in the future on many lists <3
I cannot wait to see while lies in store for Runaway Train in the Next book <3
Synopsis:
For Abby Renard, the plan was supposed to be simple—join her brothers’ band on the last leg of their summer tour and decide if she’s finally ready for the limelight by becoming its fourth member. Of course, she never imagined stumbling onto the wrong tour bus at Rock Nation would accidentally land her in the bed of Jake Slater, the notorious womanizing lead singer of Runaway Train. When he mistakes her for one of his groupie’s, Abby quickly lets him know she sure as hell isn't in his bed on purpose.Jake Slater never imagined the angel who fell into his bed would resist his charms by promptly kneeing him in the balls. Of course, the fact she seems like a prissy choir girl makes her anything but his type. So he is more than surprised when after betting Abby she wouldn’t last a week on their tour bus, she is more than willing to prove him wrong. But as Jake’s personal life begins to implode around him, he finds an unlikely ally in Abby. He’s never met a woman he can talk to, joke with, or most importantly make music with.
As the week starts comes to a close, neither Abby nor Jake is ready to let go. Can a sweetheart Country songstress and a bad boy of Rock N Roll actually have a future together?
