RIP by Rachel Van Dyken

This novel was a mind twist. Like as twisted as I could have imagined, plus more. It was crazy wonderful to read and I need more. Now. I don't think I can wait for the next book in this world. Genius, riveting, and emotionally taxing, this book is one for the top shelves. Nikolai is one twisted man. A twisted man with all the right intentions. every terrible decision he has made, every wrong that he committed, all for her and she has no idea. He finally has her. Signed on the dotted line is her name and with that he owns her life. It is time for Maya to find out all of the lies that are waved into her life. It is time for her to see the truth. Ahhhh. This novel. With each chapter we were given a little more about what was really going on and I couldn't put it down. It was like a mystery begging to be solved. Throw in some sexy times and some mad Italians and this story about the Russian mafia got really tense quite quickly. I wanted the happily ever after. Don't we all? I wanted the ending I thought that we could have. I had no idea going in where this story was going to go. None. Rachel has a talent for giving you a story with certain expectations and then taking everything you think is going to happen and doing the opposite. Things you never see coming. I adored the characters and the premise of this story. Second chance stories, or, well, stories that give you a guy who could or couldn't be bad, are the type that leave me on my toes because I KNOW I am going to fall in love. I know that without a doubt I will fall for this guy and nothing he can do will change that. Nikolai had me on the edge. I wasn't sure about this guy. I wasn't sure if I could find the parts of him to love, but I did. He might be my all time favorite. Hands down. You need to read this. You need to fall in love with Nikolai and Maya. Their story? The dark parts? Bring so much light to this world in the end. Go read it.

Synopsis:

Pretty things aren't meant to be broken. But I broke her, and now we both have to pay the price. I'm her nightmare. I'm her savior. And now that I have her signature on an ironclad contract, I own her body and soul. She doesn't remember me. She will. It's inevitable. Because as much as I know I need to stay away, for fear of unlocking the memories I helped her father bury--I can't. She was the apple in the Garden, dangled in front of me, her core so tempting and sweet. A voice whispered. Just. One. Bite. I bit. I tasted. I fell. Welcome to the world of the Russian mafia, where death, is your only future.
