SHE DID IT AGAIN! I didn't think I would find another novel with Mafia that I loved more than Carter Reed, and it found it. It is right here. It was fantastic and TIjan-esque and perfect.
I'm having a hard time finding my thoughts on this. Not because it wasn't amazing, but because it was the type of book that I absolutely couldn't stop reading to gather my thoughts.
I loved that it was just a tad dark and broody and that it had the love/hate enemies type of romance that you are completely rooting for even though you aren't sure its going to happen.
I love a good alpha. If you don't know that by my reviews, then you know that now!
This book has the perfect one. He is just troubled enough with just enough backstory that I gobbled him up. I lay claim, he is mine. I will fight you. I know I claim every man Tijan writes, but that is semantics. Live with it. Riley and I can share. Besides, she's Riley, just wait till you get to know her. She's fierce and fights for what she believes in and for those she loves.
The drama and electricity between characters in this book literally leaves you tingly. A top read. Absolutely.
Also, this is a mafia read and with the magic comes the dark hero that you know you will love.
Synopsis:
There were always whispers about my roommate at Hillcrest Academy.
The wealthiest of the wealthy sent their kids to our boarding school, and Brooke Bennett had been at the top, though I never quite knew why. She was fun and outgoing, but she kept quiet about her family. The only things she showed me were photographs of her brothers.
I became fascinated with her second-oldest brother. Kai Bennett.
He was the most of them all. Smoldering. Hypnotic. Alluring.
Kai had eyes that pulled me in and a face that haunted my dreams.
Then I met him.
He came to our school with their father, and that’s when I learned what kind of family Brooke came from. They were mafia, and Brooke’s oldest brother was dead. Her father said accident, but Brooke said murder.
Three months later, her father died, and Kai became the head of the Bennett Family. Brooke left Hillcrest for good, and that was the last time I saw her.
Fourteen years later, I’m staring at her face on the television. Brooke is missing.
Two days later, Kai Bennett kidnaps me.
