Meg's Review:This series is a funny and light read. You really cannot get past a page without at least giggling, let alone falling into stitches. I love this series and The Dare was the perfect addition to it. Grandma Nadine shard and fast back into her task of peering up all those she can think of. She has set her sights on Jace and Beth and they don't stand a chance.
She has "Kidnapped" the couple, more or less, and whisked them off for 6 days in Hawaii. This is all of course with pretense. They have an idea of whats going on, but there isn't much they can do to stop that and they are fully aware of that little tidbit. Beth has never recovered from somewhat that happened so many years ago with Jace. She is a woman scorned and even if it isn't all his fault, she still harbors those ill feelings. I really enjoyed Beth though, her story and personality were refreshing and quirky. She had her own sass and I was right there with her in this book.
“You’ve been charged with the kidnapping of a United States senator. How do you plead?" Grandma Nadine smirked. Amateurs.
She winked at the FBI agent and answered saucily, "Why, guilty, of course."
Jace has his own demons to face about the past. No matter, they both want Nothing to do with each other at this point. Aside from appeasing Grandma and playing along that is. Beth has her standards and Jace doesn't fit them, not that he really minds, he is a broken man with no plan to be with Beth.
"Was it so wrong to want the fairytale? What was so bad about striving for more? Was I being punished for wanting the knight in shining armor to actually have a soul?”
Grandma seems to know whats best for all parties involved in every scheme she builds. This one though, you won't believe how deep this plan goes. It really is genius though, you shall see. I am a major fan of this particular series and Rachel's style of writing. The fact that Grandma Nadine is a mastermind, is just icing on the Rachel Van Dyken cake. I highly recommend this series as well as anything by RVD. The Dare is a funny, high paced, and entertaining Romance that is a Must Read.
Synopsis:Boring Beth Lynn has always lived up to her nickname… until she wakes up in a hotel bed next to a sexy as sin state senator she re-connected with at a wedding the previous night.
The biggest problem? She can't seem to remember anything about the night before except for crying into a box of cookies, and she’s pretty sure Grandma Nadine slipped something in her drink. And what should have been a one night stand turns into a six day adventure when Grandma whisks them off to Hawaii to save them from the ensuing media firestorm.
Jace isn't looking for commitment — he believes he made that clear when he left the wedding with Beth. Then again, he can't remember much of anything other than the way her skin felt beneath his hands. Now he's stuck with her at some lame couple’s retreat and trying his hardest to fight the attraction only a woman like Beth could invoke.
He doesn’t think it can get any worse.
But one spider attack… A donkey ride from hell… And an unfortunate episode with Viagra tea — and there’s one thing Jace knows for sure: He should never have agreed to Grandma Nadine’s suggestion in the first place.
Because if this isn’t paradise, and it isn’t a vacation — that only leaves one option.
But to make it through alive… they might lose their hearts in the process.
