Meg's Review:
This story tells the tale of two individuals who's lives have left them with scars and demons that they still battle once the wounds have healed.
The horror of what Kaiya has faced was a hard read for me. Such utter hurt. She battles with herself every second of every day. Ryker's hurt isn't the same as Kaiya's but that doesn't mean it doesn't affect him, and you will come to see that it does. His trust was ripped from him with that his life changed as well.
When Kaiya's past is on the cusp of coming back to her present she panics. Very understandably. She also takes steps to protect herself. Step one being to learn to defend herself. Enter Ryker.
I loved the novel. It was well written and I felt that it did a good job of depicting how someone could react to such a situation. Her emotions, her feelings towards herself, and her mannerisms fit the situations. The author did a great job in this aspect. Authors sometimes don't do their research on topics like this and I was glad that Nikki did.
This novel also had a HEA but it wasn't all happy go lucky. It was more of a real ending. Very well written and left you wanting more, but not feeling left hanging. I look forward to reading book two and hopefully getting more into Ryker's past and future. Hey, a girl can hope. I mean, more Ryker? Heck yes.
Synopsis:
