This was a fantastic new read from Kim! I love how her characters jump right off the page for you. A nice change of pace from the Connected series, this standalone really has you falling in love for the first page.
This novel had me from the start. I LOVE second chance love stories. They are always full of hope and angst. Right up my alley. Jeremy and Phoebe's story it just the same.
Toxic was the perfect name for this novel. A lot of toxic things happened and a lot of the situations were toxic. This was a novel all about finding what type of love you were meant to. It was about finding the right kind of happy. Phoebe and Jeremy have a past they need to deal with and a present they need to let take it course. With the hauntings of the past that isn't always the easier thing.
"Like a movie on rewind, the painful memories would start at the tragic end and make their way back to the beautiful beginning."
I have to say, at some points in this novel I wasn't the biggest fan of Phoebe. I felt like she was wishy-washy in her decision-making at some points and just childish at others. She was real though. A character with real flaws who made real mistakes. Not all heroines are perfect. Not all of them make the right choices all the time. Thats what makes for a great novel.
Jeremy was quite the character. He threw that unknown element into the story. You never really knew what was coming next or what his real motives were. It help you on your toes while reading.
We are all always rooting for the happy ending and there were a few times int he book where I really didn't know where it was going. There were seem big bombs dropped and some great twists I didn't see coming. Now, the steamy scenes in this book? They were MOLTEN. I thought my reader might burn up from reading. SO GOOD. Kim definitely out does herself.
“All I had to do was close my eyes, and I could feel the way his touch made my skin tingle, I could imagine his body as he crushed his to mine...”
A story of finding love and giving it a second chance.
A story about trust.

He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not...
New York Times bestselling author Kim Karr turns up the heat in a smoking hot, emotionally compelling new novel that takes you into the world of Manhattan’s elite.
In Toxic, Jeremy McQueen, a sexy, intense, sometimes brooding entrepreneur goes after what he wants—the woman he left behind years ago. Phoebe St. Claire, a put together, in control socialite-turned-CEO has been drifting through life searching for something she thought she'd never find again—the right man to share her future.
Our passion was boundless. Our lust untamed. And our desire endless. He was the only man who ever made me feel alive. Then, I betrayed him.
When he reappeared, I didn’t question it. Trust rarely survives the wrecking ball, so when he let me in back in—I didn’t hesitate.
Maybe I should have.
What began as a bid to save my family business, turned into a second chance at love. It felt so romantic. Working together, side by side, with the man I loved. My dream come true.
Nothing is as good as it seems.
We had our issues, but then again, every couple does. It wasn’t jealousy, or our too-hot sex life that I should have been worried about.
It was his darkside.
I never saw the end coming, until it slammed me in the face. The question is—did he?
Was revenge his plan all along?
Sometimes you have to wonder if your life is too good to be true.
Is it real or just an illusion?
Does the man lying beside you really love you like he says he does?
If the answer is yes, you’re meant to live happily ever after.
If the answer is no, you’re living my life, and nothing will ever be the same.
What you do about it—that’s up to you.
Me, I’m in too deep and there’s no getting out.
I’ll take whatever I can get for as long as I can because I know when it’s over…
I’ll never find another man like him.
