Toxic by Rachel Van Dyken

My Review:

This novel was absolutely beautiful. It was heartbreaking, and emotional, and beautiful. It also had the tell tale RVD humor that we all love. A perfect blend was formed in this book. I couldn't put this book down. It was consuming in its telling of a story that won't let you go. Gabe. We met his in Ruin, but now week really MEET him. Its all a lie. All of it. He is so broken it rips your heart out. Such remorse for such a genuinely good person to have. This is a tear jerker for sure. It pluck the heart strings and makes you fall. The pain though? The pain he feels is whats toxic. Gabe has regrets. Just like all of us, but his regrets tear him apart. They are a constant in his every thought. Till we meet Saylor. Love at first sight is not what I would say about these guys. No, I would call it immediate attraction. That attraction allows Gabe to forget for one second. Thats all, then it forces him to face the music.

"I'm falling for you too. I haven't fallen. Falling. As in still falling, still in the air, still trying to get used to the idea that I've just nose dived off a cliff with every intention on making sure landing doesn't break my fall."

I loved the fact that this novel had such a strong lesson in it. Actually it had a few. But they weren't lessons you had to search for, they were lessons you literally felt while reading the book. A must read. Tosic
