Untouchable Darkness by Rachel Van Dyken

5 HUGE Stars|Amazon|Goodreads|

Untouchable Darkness. Pure brilliance in a title. I swear to all things great, that this is one of my all time favorites from Rachel. I am a HUGE fan of her Mafia novels, and she has even turned me onto Historical Romance, but paranormal is my THING. I wasn't sure if she could dazzle me even more than previously done with The Dark Ones, but she did. Rachel took a story line with tons of potential and launched a new saga that I know will be an all time favorite for me. A series filled with epic romance, thrilling plot, and on your toes suspense. It does' get much better.

"He grinned. I didn't like that grin. It was beautiful. It was also terrifying."

Cassius ans Stephanie really have their work cut out for them. Where with Ethan and Genesis things were kind of thrown together and they had to go with the flow, this romance has been brewing from the very beginning. Cassis knew she could never be his and she knew that all she wanted was for him to be hers. For him to love her. Well, now thanks to some ultimatums and fun luck, they might just get that chance. If the whole immortal race on the brink of war doesn't throw more than a few wrenches into the plan. I could not put this book down. Not only did we get a ton more from all the secondary characters that we love and hold dear, but we got a TON of back story and plot development from Cassius and Stephanie. With Stephanie's story having been given to us int he first novel we still really didn't know anything about The Dark Ones. Well, almost nothing. This is Cassius's story and you wont want to miss a single page. Heck, you don't want to miss even a paragraph. There were some parts in the book where I swear I read the page twice because my mind was BLOWN with what was transpiring. This is one of those books that you start reading and someone walks up and starts talking to you but you have NO idea because you are SO FOCUSED on the story that the world around you is the story. Nothing else exists. I can't wait to read book three. This novel left me shaking with anticipation for what Rachel is going to weave into this tale next. I want Alex, I do. I feel like he really needs his turn for life to get a little messy. AH! I can't wait. Read it. If you even remotely like The Dark Ones, then let this novel fill in a lot of the history you didn't know and allow it to begin to really build the world around you. You are left with a place that you can't have ever imagined. Pure genius. And that title? Just you wait and see It is the most fitting title for the story for a million different reasons.

To love a Dark One is to invite death... It is wrong to love her. It is worse to want her. It is sin to consume her. I desire all three. I've been given thirty days to prove my love to another immortal--as a human. Cursed to use nothing but the side of myself I've always despised to win her affection. I am Cassius, the King of the immortals, A Dark One. And today I tasted fear for the first time. How can I win her when my human emotions over take every ounce of logic I possess? A darkness is brewing. One I cannot stop as a human. One that Stephanie, my loves visions, have shown, will be my end. Thirty days ago I was King of the immortals. Today I know fear. Today I know how I will die. By her hand. The woman I love.
