Fire and Death (Fire and Water)

Aideen killed her mother and her childhood friend. At least that's what she believes.

Death follows her like a curse, and with every loss, her gut whispers the same truth-it's her fault. Determined to keep anyone else from dying, Aideen plans to escape to the West Coast for college and leave her haunted past behind for good.

But when her best friend Emily vanishes without a trace, running is no longer an option.

The police offer nothing but dead ends and empty reassurances, so Aideen takes the search into her own hands-joined by the one boy she's spent years keeping at a safe distance, the one she's most terrified of losing.

Following a trail of cryptic clues Emily left behind, Aideen stumbles into a clandestine world of monsters hiding in plain sight. Stalked by glowing symbols that have shadowed her dreams for as long as she can remember, and hunted by legendary creatures for reasons she doesn't understand, Aideen is thrust into a supernatural war she never asked to fight.

To save Emily, she'll have to trust a ruthless vampire and an unpredictable shifter-and face the most horrifying possibility of all: the thing she's been running from her entire life isn't chasing her at all.

It's inside her.

Jenee Dutary delivers a heart-pounding debut in this first installment of the Fire and Water series, a young adult paranormal fantasy where the line between hunter and hunted blurs, and the most dangerous monster might be the one staring back from the mirror.
